ACCCIS CALL ON M-FICORD
The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) made a courtesy call and held a dialogue session yesterday with the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD). ACCCIS delegation was led by its President Dato Tan Jit Kee. The delegation was received by Dr. Gluma Saban, Head of Policy and Development Division of M-FICORD.
Dato Tan stated that the Premier of Sarawak had earlier called upon ACCCIS from the Private sector to work together with the public sector in order to progress Sarawak to becoming a developed state by 2030. This dialogue with M-FICORD was part of ACCCIS’ efforts to strengthen public-private collaboration for the common good of Sarawak.
He said that it was a positive and productive dialogue with M-FICORD with various issues covered. Amongst the issues discussed included Smart Farming, Animal Feeds using Oil Palm waste, Edible bird nest and Development of young agro- entrepreneurs.
Dr. Gluma stated that M-FICORD and ACCCIS would look into joint working groups to explore collaboration on above areas. He added that this dialogue is a good follow-up to last meeting with Minister YB Dato Sri Rundi by ACCCIS and West Malaysia Agro-entrepenurs group. Dr. Gluma said that M-FICORD is keen to work closely with ACCCIS and there are plenty of opportunities for private sector in the Agro-commodity and Food Industry as Sarawak progress to becoming a net food exporter.
Present at the dialogue session included senior officials of M-FICORD including Principal Assistant Secretary Policy Mr. Liew Ju Jeng, Assistant Secretary Policy Mr. Gavin Dom, Assistant Secretary Policy Mr. Kenneth Topit; Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak Director Dr. Adrian Susin Ambud; SALCRA Ag General Manager Mr. Sikin Sentok, Head of Business Development Mr. Raymond Britin; Department of Agriculture Sarawak Head of Inland Fisheries Division Tn. Hj. Fakharuddin bin Bokhari, Research Officer Mr. Stonton Morse Anak Jerry Rumpang, and Agriculture Officer Ms. Jessyca Mujah.
Delegation from ACCCIS included Vice President cum Chairman for Agriculture and Primary Industries Committee Datuk Wee Kok Hui, Secretary-General Dato Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, Chairman of Digital Economy Committee cum Member for Agriculture and Primary Industries Committee Mr. Rodger Chan Siong Boh, Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs Committee Mr. Vincent Chai, Secretary of Young Entrepreneurs Committee Mr. Tan Chen Sin, KCGCCI Chairman of Agriculture Mr Loh Siaw Kuei as well as KCGCCI Deputy Agriculture Penghulu Philip Lee.
