Tightened SOP better than total lockdown
We welcome the decision of the state government in not following Putrajaya with the imposition of another round of MCO, instead Sarawak will tighten the SOP by coming up with certain specific measures aiming to flatten the curve of the pandemic.
While the new measures, especially no dine-in for eateries, will certainly affect the business of the coffee shops, food courts and restaurants, we could understand the ultimate intention of SDMC of implementing such restriction. It’s pragmatic to tighten the SOP rather than imposing another round of MCO to stop almost all the economic activities.
Our businesses could not afford to have a complete shutdown of economic activities especially when most businesses only began to pick up to recover gradually from the devastating effects of the previous lockdowns. Having said that, we would like to appeal to the general public to strictly comply with the SOP and practice the new norms of wearing the face mask and practice social distancing whenever we are out in public places and let us celebrate our festivities responsibly by strictly observing the SOP.
