Mandatory for Shipper to register with Marine Department before 1st June
The Marine Department Malaysia refers to the amendment of SOLAS Regulation VI/2, through its Shipping Notice (MSN) 02/2016 has made it mandatory for all Shippers to register their companies and declare the method used to obtain the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) before 1st June 2016. The failure of which will result in the container not being loaded onto the ship.
The amendment to SOLAS Regulation VI/2, which states the requirement for VGM of a container carrying cargo, will come into force on 1st July 2016.
Therefore, all Shippers are advised to refer to the guidelines given by MSC.1/Cir.1475 for further information. The guideline and Shipper Registration Form can be downloaded from the Marine Department’s official website at http://www.marine.gov.my/ or log on to the Shipper registration system at http://202.129.173.37/shipper/.
The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) urges the Shippers to register their companies with the Marine Department (Jabatan Laut Malaysia) as soon as possible or before the due date on 1st June 2016.
